Your questions, answered.

Everything people usually ask me. Can't see yours? Email me and I'll come back to you.

VISITING
When are you open?

Monday to Thursday 4pm to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 12 noon to midnight, and Sunday 12 noon to 8pm. The badge at the top of my home page shows whether I'm open right now.

Are dogs welcome?

Yes. Dogs are welcome in my bar and beer garden, and muddy paws after a walk are fine.

Where do I park?

There's a large free private car park behind the pub. Drive in via the top of George Lane, where it meets the Ridgeway. what3words: ///into.pure.deeply

Do you serve food?

We don't serve food at present.

How can I pay?

Cash, contactless, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.

ACCOMMODATION
What accommodation do you have?

En suite king-size, double and twin rooms above my bar, with a power shower, Egyptian cotton bedding and free tea and coffee. See the accommodation.

Do you have a business rate?

Yes – my George Business Account: £89 a night Sunday to Thursday, or £340 Monday to Friday (4 nights). Late arrival by door code, free van parking, your first pint on us each night and one monthly VAT invoice for your company. Rooms are cleaned and linen changed when you check out, not during your stay – just ask at the bar for more tea and coffee. Open a business account.

What time is check-in?

Check-in is between 4pm and 8pm. Need a later arrival? Email me before you travel.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes. Dog food and water bowls are available, and there is a £15 cleaning charge per stay. On my Dartmoor dog weekend (Friday and Saturday nights for £190) your dog stays free.

How do I book?

Book direct on my website with the Book a room button. Questions? Email me.

Is there parking for guests?

Yes, free, in my private car park behind the pub, with CCTV.

FUNCTION ROOM – PHILLIPS BAR
How many people does it hold?

Up to 100 people, with its own bar upstairs, air conditioning and a TV screen. It's on the first floor with no step-free access; if stairs are difficult for any of your guests, I can set aside an area of the main bar downstairs instead.

How do I enquire?

Pick the right button on the Function Room page. It opens an email to me, and I'll send you the right enquiry form.

What does it cost for a private function?

A £100 deposit holds the date. It comes back to you within 7 days if £700 is spent at the upstairs bar on the night and the room is handed back in a sensible state. Under £700, the deposit is the hire fee.

Is it free for charities and community groups?

Yes, the room is free. The only cost is bar staff at £13 an hour if you'd like the upstairs bar open.

Can businesses hire it for training or meetings?

Yes. It's £13 a head for a half day (up to 4 hours, minimum 8 people) or £21 a head for a full day (up to 8 hours, minimum 12 people), plus VAT. That includes the room and tea and coffee, fruit juice and bottled water, refilled through your booking. It's paid in advance, with a full refund if you cancel with 7 or more days' notice, and you get a voucher for 10% off your next booking, valid for 12 months. Use the "Training or meeting" button on the Function Room page.

Can you host a wake?

Yes. Our thoughts are with you and your family. There's no room charge and no deposit. Bar staff upstairs are £13 an hour, or you can use the quieter side of the main bar downstairs.

Can we bring our own food?

Yes, outside caterers and buffets are welcome. Please let your guests know what's in it, as I can't take responsibility for food I haven't prepared.

Can we have tea and coffee?

Yes. Tea, coffee and bottled water, refilled through your booking, are £2 a head for up to 4 hours or £3 a head for a full day. Fruit juice is £1 a head extra (£1.50 for a full day). Business bookings already include them in the price.

Can we bring our own drinks?

No, except a bottle for a toast by arrangement (£5 corkage).

Anything else I should know?

Final numbers are due 7 days before. For private parties, cancel with 14 days' notice for a full deposit refund (business hire is 7 days). Live music finishes by 11pm and recorded music by 12.30am. Children stay in the function area after 9pm. Please leave the room as you found it; heavy glitter or confetti may mean a cleaning fee. For 18ths, 21sts and young crowds, anyone who'd like a drink shows photo ID (Challenge 25) and gets a wristband to be served at the bar, so there's no extra cost for door staff.

COMMUNITY
How does Charities of the Year work?

Plympton nominates local charities on my Facebook page, then votes in two rounds. The two winners get a year of my fundraising. See how it works.

Can I put my event on your noticeboard?

Yes. Use "Post your event" on the Community Hub and it goes up, usually within a day or two.

Do you have live music?

Yes, in my main bar. See What's On for the next gigs. Play locally? Email enquiries_thegeorgeinn@outlook.com with "Artist Enquiries" in the subject.
